Kia ora, my name is Carlos. I am originally from Argentina, but since 2006 I’ve called Aotearoa home. I carry a love for music, wellbeing, nature, crafts, and community.

My journey began in the culinary arts (early 20's), for 15 years i spent a big part of my time cooking at restaurants, cafes, and even a Russian icebreaker in Antarctica - from which I got 'dropped off' in Littleton in 2008. What a way to land on the shores of Aotearoa.

All along i had my trusty travel guitar with me, music had been a hobby since a young age for me and everywhere i went i made sure to bring a musical instrument with me.

Many years later i found myself very lost and broken, for years i struggled with chronic anxiety and depression, holding on to a line of hope that was woven with music. And then i serendipitously met a man on the street who had just completed the music therapy programme at Victoria University. I didn't know what music therapy was but everything he said about it made total sense to me - It didn't take long for him to convince me and within a few days I applied for an audition. In 2021 I graduated with honors, got my registration and began working at a inpatient mental health hospital ward as a music therapist.

Since graduating I've mainly focused my clinical practice at inpatient and outpatient mental health settings with children, adolescents, and adults. I also work with people who are navigating a wide range of psychological, neurological and/or physical challenges. My approach is inclusive, compassionate, humanistic, and collaborative - I believe that music has the power to connect us, strengthen us, and facilitate pathways for growth, healing, and expression.

I am trained in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT) and the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music. Learning these approaches has helped me better understand how to use of music as a tool for the exploration of consciousness and healing.
